Daniil Medvedev explained why he took a medical break in the first set against Sebastian Korda in an interview with correspondent Maxim Yanchevsky.
Medvedev was eliminated in the third round of the Australian Open, losing 6:7(7), 3:6, 6:7(4).
The wrist hurt a little. For some reason, the ligament hurt a little before the match, I don`t know why. We worked with physio, but she still got sick, so they taped it.
I lost the first game, it seemed to me that this tape was interfering with me - although, perhaps, this [was] not so. Therefore, I decided to take it off, because it still hurt a little, so what`s the difference if it hurts with or without it.
And, in principle, in the draws, the hand did not particularly bother me, but on the pitch, perhaps, it bothered me a little. But then again, this is part of tennis, so it`s just a shame, obviously nothing serious, but it`s a shame when this happens before the match.
