Miami-Dade County has filed a US federal bankruptcy court petition for immediate permission to terminate its naming rights agreement with FTX and remove the brand from Miami`s arena.


In a petition filed on Tuesday, the county that owns the arena and has been negotiating naming rights with FTX said that continuing to refer to the stadium as the FTX Arena will only exacerbate the ongoing hardship caused by the crypto exchange`s bankruptcy.


It does not appear that the debtor will be harmed by early termination of the naming rights agreement. On the other hand, Miami-Dade County continues to provide the debtor with valuable naming rights and other benefits, and cannot yet seek a new naming partner, the county`s petition says.
