The FFF Executive Committee will study Didier Deschamps` new contract - its term may be reduced.


The President of the French Football Federation, Noel Le Gre, who is threatened with resignation, extended the contract with the coach of the French national team until 2026, without notifying the members of the executive committee. Le Grae`s term of office expires in 2024.


Le Graet did not inform the members of the FFF executive committee about his decision, although a meeting was held on January 6 at which he could do so. The signing of a new contract with Deschamps was officially announced the next day, January 7. Members of the FFF executive committee learned about Deschamps` new contract from an official announcement.


It is noted that the extension of the contract with the national team coach is the prerogative of the FFF president. However, members of the executive committee were annoyed that Le Gret did not inform them. In addition, they are not satisfied with such a long term of the coach`s new agreement.


According to L`Equipe, the executive committee of the FFF will hold an emergency meeting today, which was convened under pressure from Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas and federation vice-president Philippe Diallo.


During the meeting, among other issues, Deschamps` new contract will be discussed. There is no question of breaking an already signed agreement. However, the executive committee will try to amend the contract - in particular, shorten its term to two years (so that it is valid until 2024) or include in the contract a clause stating that Deschamps will leave without compensation if the new head of the FFF wants to appoint a new coach in2024.


Le Graet reportedly initially insisted on a contract until 2024, but Deschamps and his agent were able to convince the FFF president to sign an agreement for a much longer period.


Under the previous contract, Deschamps received 2. 5 million euros per year before taxes. Due to various bonuses and prize money, the amount reached 3 million euros. It is not known on what terms Didier`s new contract was concluded, but it is assumed that the coach will receive approximately the same money under it.
