Los Angeles or America can take Leon`s place on KCM. Earlier, the Mexican club was excluded from the club World Cup for violating the rules of possession of clubs. FIFA has developed plans to hold a single-match playoff between Los Angeles and America to determine the team that will replace Leon at the tournament, ESPN reports.
The idea of FIFA will be implemented if Leon loses appeal to the sports arbitration court (CAS) on the restoration of the club world championship.
Cas announced that the hearing will take place on April 23 in Madrid, where Leon and Costa Rican club Alahualens will present their arguments. Initially, Alahuelens filed a complaint with CAS, referring to the fact that Leon`s participation violates the FIFA regulations, and claiming that they should get a place in the tournament according football news instead of him.
Now both clubs have time until April 2 to collect legal documentation before submitting arguments on the 23rd. It is emphasized that the plans for replacing the team will not be announced until all court cases are resolved.
